Bandits are a type of Shy Guy that are very common on Yoshi's Island. They appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island DS. They will chase Baby Mario and Yoshi and take Baby Mario away. They're very fast and if Yoshi tries to attack them, they may drop coins or 1-Up Mushroom. They also have a sub-species called Coin Bandits.

Bandits serves as the most common enemies it wanders around until it sees Yoshi it will then proceed chase after him when it reaches him it will take Baby Mario before running off in addition it can jump over small ledges they are very resilient requiring six eggs or watermelon seeds, jumping on them three times or a single ground pound to defeat it. They also come several variants a pink colored red coin carrying Bandit known as Coin Bandit a Bandit wearing a baseball glove known as Green Glove a Bandit wearing a spiny shell crown known as Grunt a Bandit carrying a baseball bat called Slugger and a Bandit dressed in karate attire called Zeus Guy (Bandit).
Bandit reappears in Yoshi's Island DS they act the same like it did in the previous game but can also take Baby Peach, Baby Donkey Kong, Baby Wario and Baby Bowser when it spots Yoshi it jumps very high which signifies it has spotted him.
Bandit appears in Yoshi's New Island they reprise their same roles but if it is Yoshi it will constantly jump also the level Bandit Valley found in World 6 is named after them.
In Mini Battles, such as Gather Coins and Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest, Yoshi has to face off against a Bandit to win items. If the player uses a secret minigame code, the second player can use the second controller to play as the Bandit (thus making Bandit a playable character for the first time ever).
