The Nintendo 64, often abbreviated N64, is a video game console developed by Nintendo. It was released on June 23, 1996 in Japan and Septenber 29, 1996 in North America. The console is known for being 64-bit, the source of its name, and for being the home of the first particularly successful, fully 3-dimensional games. It's successor was the Nintendo GameCube.
