Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]
Roger the Potted Ghost first appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island as the second boss in the game.
Once Blue Yoshi travels through a castle filled with Caged Ghosts and Dangling Ghosts before reaching a door and falling onto a platform with a Potted Plant with two Shy Guys on it.
Just then, Kamek comes in and warns Blue Yoshi to turn back before casting a spell on the pot plant. Then, Roger is revealed to be the well-disguised potted plant. The two Shy Guys then try pushing the pot plant towards Blue Yoshi, forcing Blue Yoshi towards the edge of the platform. To defeat them, Blue Yoshi must push back. As Blue Yoshi does this in attempt to defeat him, Roger sometimes pushes Blue Yoshi back, not injuring him and trying to push him down a bottomless pit. Though, he occasionally tries to burn Blue Yoshi so that he loses Baby Mario, with this injuring attack. Roger occasionally gives a bewildered facial expression during the battle.
Once these attacks are avoided and Roger is pushed back enough times, he meets his ultimate defeat. Then, Blue Yoshi and Baby Mario gain the key to the third world.
